Toulouse T'Pau to Dax 14th - 16th April 2018 Day 3

The final day arrived and the sun had gone awol! As we'd agreed to be back at Dax for noon we had a few hours to kill. Nothing South, West would require a boat, North was a trip on its own, East it is then.

The first of two Magisters, this one on a roundabout.

Then on to the drome. A couple of hangars all locked up. A shufty in the clubhouse found a man with a set of keys. The Magister is at the Potez factory bordering the airfield.

Despite the large hangar it didn't contain much. The other hangar remained shut as the gent didn't have the keys for that one.

Onward to Rion. Plenty of hangars here but they were all shut up and there was nobody on site. Squinny time.

Time to head back to Dax. LB and Nay had been before so knew the layout but it was a virgin drome for Dog and Cat. We'd knock off the preserved bits and then sit at the end of the runway and pick off the Eurocopters whilst breaking out the baguettes.

We were shown round the aeroclub by local celeb Louis Pena and his dog. As well as being an aerobatic team pilot (Louis, not his dog) he built a few of the aircraft inside and there was another on site being built from his plans.

On to the museum now as it was almost 1400L. We were hoping that the second hall would now be open to the public. Alas, it was the same situation as in 2015. It is all ready to go but they are still waiting for the military to cut through the red tape and give the okay.

At least there had been half a dozen changes since last time.

Behind the museum area was a stored Gazelle. The serial and code were incomplete

Just the matter of about 300kms or so now to get back to TLS in time for a circuit and to catch our ride home. Luckily Nay was on hand to keep everyone in awe at the quality of his impressions. It was like Arnie was in the car! Hasta la vista, Dax. I'll be back.

Only those different logged at Airbus and a couple of those were read under the wing on approach as we were in traffic just outside the airport. Circuit done, car dropped off, car park revisited.

A check of Malc's Luton log meant Buster was on the look out for yet another G6 pegback upon landing. Luckily for him it was on S71.

Another trip chalked off though I'm sure we'll be back to TLS again sometime this year.

As usual a great trip with great company. Thanks to Snoop for another fine driving stint and some impressive local lingo, Cat for the planning, LB for taking over scribing duties and Nay for being an all round great guy. Be seeing you.
