Day 5. Time to head back to BTS for our early evening flight home. A couple of miles down the road a paintball site had a few items of interest. It was rather misty here but these were easily seen.

The next two stops, Siofok and Hajmasky, were both gated with nothing seen at either.

Daka was next. The one hangar all locked up, nobody about, nothing seen.

Time to move on to the highlight of the day. Papa AB. Four Gate Guards were seen though I think there should have been a fifth? We didn't see it anyway so moved or hidden.

The stored MiGs. Whilst one of us chatted to the farmer, whose land we were on, the other two had a count up. One of us can't count very well it seems... The farmer was amicable enough but would not let us nearer. We respected his wishes and left. No point ruining the view for those that may follow. Granted you can't read them, but still an amazing sight seeing 30 odd MiG-21s together...not forgetting the five Sukhois.

I have heard since that the farmer has had some grief from the HuAF from people looking at the MiGs...true or not, I don't know. But if you put yourself in his shoes...

Onward to a solitary MiG a couple of miles away. The old chap here was not happy with us taking a photo. That was not enough. No siree. Out came the ladder, open came the cockpit and we were invited to get in. Like big kids at a sweet shop we happily obliged. It's time like these that make a trip memorable.

Time to move on to the Weiners. First up was Ost. Knowing the OE-V series are test regs and hard to tie up without a cn we weren't overly expectant. Good job. Two OE-VDN's next to each other proved this. Maybe they had visitors at Diamond but there was no access to their museum or ramp. We got what we could and moved on.

Eisenstadt was next up. Nothing at the heliport, a recurring theme! One more stop in the town at the Hohere Technische Bundeslehranstalt. The director of the department happily gave us a tour. As it happened he was interested in taking his students on a tour to the UK so hopefully the pointers we gave him were useful.

Also here being built was a Klemm L20. The fuselage is new but the original wings were present. It will eventually go to the Graz Museum once complete.

The last stop in Austria was Trausdorf. This was deserted and the hangar looked like it had not been used in years. The strip was freshly mown though. Nothing seen.

Into Hungary. Stop one was Fertorakos. One hangar shut and squinny proof.

The next drome was Fertoszentmiklos, or Meidl as the drome calls itself. Very friendly and most hangars opened up for us bar the Piper maintenance one. Special thanks to Tibi for showing us around.

A busy day, and the Hungarian roads, had taken its toll on the schedule so a bit of rearranging was done. A small field next with one hangar and a very chatty old fella that insisted on uncovering his pride and joy for us to photo.

Passing a petrol station on a quarter of a tank it's best to fill up not say I'll get the next one. No main roads and no petrol station for miles saw us flag down a farmer in his tractor to ask where the nearest one was. It was a long ten miles away and we just reached it on fumes.

After filling up the car it was time for one more stop in the dark, the Haditechnikai Muzeum where we expected a couple of MiG's. The Kamov was a nice surprise though unmarked and as the museum was closed for the day no further investigation was possible.

We passed Taszar in the dark but nothing to be seen from outside.

Tonights hotel was at Siofok on Lake Balaton. A pleasant couple of hours sat outside eating Gyros and drinking beer ended another good day.

The third day would start attempting to mop up a few non-movers in the Brno area. First up the Technicke Muzeum V Brne which was not yet open, all seen from outside with the two Zlin's easily visible through the windows from the main road.

The next two stops failed to trouble the scorers. There was no sign of the MiG-21s at Brno-Cernovice. These must be inside somewhere or have moved on? At the Brno-Tech School nothing visible from outside as expected, again a bit early and access needed for a future trip.

Time now to get some active mil. All three Slovak visitors departed as we arrived, the Mi-17 in the digital camo scheme was rather nice.

Just before the border with Austria is an IL-62 in use as a restaurant. It is somewhat garish for my liking so didn't warrant a photo!

One of the Austrian mil bases was next up. We didn't expect to see much but it was in the area so worth a look and have a bit of a recce for future reference. As it happens the gliding was active so a few were logged.

There was also a heli drone marked OE-VXX and a couple of 'brown paper and vinegar' exhibits that didn't interest us.

On the way to the next museum we passed Meidling Heliport, nothing was seen here.

The Heeresgeschichtliches Museum was about to close, luckily the two we were after are outside.
