Kielce was all locked up bar the EC135. Luckily the Gent walking his dog had keys for one hangar and happily opened it for us. The larger one was closed with no key holder on site. Still, one is better than none and a good excuse to come back as it apparently had some AN-2s inside.

Konstancin Heliport was next up but it was gated and nothing outside. Better luck was had at the GA drome where all first appeared shut up. One of the two hangars has a clear side so we read a couple off when the man in charge came out. A little chat was had where he invited us in and opened both hangars for us. Cheers George.

Last call was Jacentow but the Iskra (1009) was nowhere to be seen.

We stayed the night at the Hotel Magnat in Jacentow which must be the only place in Poland that doesn't have cold beer. Not impressed as I could have done with a couple to help overcome the snoring, which was not even in unison, coming from the other beds. The ipod earnt its corn that night!

As expected the Mi-2 (SP-SAM) at the Bemowo Fire Station was not there but as we were passing it was worth a look.

First up was the Army museum in town. Not a lot of parking outside but plenty of space over the main road. After playing dodgems with the trams we were here. Found the subway for the return leg, much easier.

The short days had now caught up with us and it was dark by the time we left here. A couple more stops were planned so we decided it was worth a look.

First was Radiowek where the Iskra (402) had gone from the spot it was at.

The next stop was a GA field that was gated but one Iskra was visible on the field

Time to head back to Chopin for the night where the B&B Hotel awaited us. Again near the main airport. No food here but they recommended a bar a few hundred yards away. A decent meal and a few pints later that was almost it for the night. Another walk to have a quick look at WAW

Poland - 20th - 24th November 2014 Day 1

Feeling the need to escape the winter and go somewhere warm a plan was hatched...Poland it is!

EI-DWA got us to Modlin in just under two hours which made it approx 2100L upon arrival. Modlin is quiet to say the least and bar the plane we got off the ramp held all of the following

We had a couple of bits to look for on the way to to the hotel at Chopin but the dark prevented anything from being seen, some for another time.

Our hotel for the first night was the Noclegi Okecie Pod Lipami which is walking distance from Warsaw-Okecie/Chopin.After checking in and unloading we set off for a 2300 stroll round the block to see the first of many preserved aircraft.
