Berlin to Poland - 23rd - 29th March 2016 Day 1

Yet another trip to Poland via Berlin for John and Colin. This one a seven day event with lots of ground to cover. Day 1 started with the almost customary breakfast at Frankie and Bennies. Then it was off to catch our flight to SXF on board EZY 2141, this time around performed by G-EZAX.

There was nothing to trouble the log at Luton, but a nice Aeroflot SSJ was taxiing out as we landed at Berlin. A good start to the trip.

The weather wasn't great in Berlin, so reading the biz was proving difficult. With a busy schedule we decided to head off, but first we collected our car from Avis.

The Avis rep gave us a giggle with his selling techniques of laughing every time he said my name! Needless to say his efforts of selling us extra insurance were not successful! Avis was a tad more expensive than other firms, but was the only one to offer unlimited mileage, a crucial factor on this trip.

So, with our Skoda Rapid(Diesel) we headed off to our first stop, Schonhagen. A new edition to the Gate guards has appeared here, an L-13 glider.

On route to Gatow we stopped at Potsdam for the Czech Mi-24 here. But as we suspected it is not viewable from outside. Rather than investigate further we decided to leave it this time as we still had a few 'clicks' to cover.

At Gatow, we didn't do a full log and only had a fleeting visit to investigate the storage hangars. Below is what we noted different to our visit last year. Plus of course the main reason, knowing that the 'Beagle' was back out on display after restoration.
